Adeline Dark Horse

Characters

The souls caught between Heaven's light and Hell's embrace

Adeline Morningstar
The Dark Horse • Protagonist

Adeline Morningstar

"No matter how many times knocked down, always gets back up."

Physical Description

Age17
Height5'7"
BuildSlender, agile, toned

Long white hair flowing past her shoulders frames a pretty face with soft cheekbones and smooth pale skin touched by natural flush. Her vibrant blue eyes are bright and striking. Large white wings—elegant, soft, feathery—extend from her back. She wears black sleek armor with white fur trim, and around her neck hangs Mary's Tear, a diamond pendant that doubles as a weapon.

Background

Born in Hell, Adeline was raised there until age 5. During a desperate search Lucifer once made through the Labyrinth, she was left alone in Hell for what felt like a year—a trauma that shaped her long before she could name it.

At age 5, Lucifer brought her to the Appalachian Mountains where she trained in secret isolation until her 17th birthday. She views Lucifer as her father figure, their bond absolute.

Secret Identity: The Dark Horse—Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse. Created by God to be used against the other four Horsemen. Her destiny is transformation, not destruction.

Personality

On the surface: kind, quirky, energetic, considerate. Strong-willed and caring, loyal to a fault. Funny, witty, charming, sarcastic—confident and comfortable in her own skin.

Beneath that: insecurity masked by wit, self-doubt hidden under confidence. Not naive, but emotional. Fiercely protective of Lucifer, terrified of losing him, of being alone again. She makes friends easily but maintains emotional boundaries. Trust must be earned—and it takes a lot to earn.

She calls Lucifer "Dad," naturally and often. He calls her "little flame"—"Because you burn. Not with fire. With will."—and, in quieter moments, "little star." When she sleeps she wraps herself in her own wings, a habit carried from childhood, the closest thing she has to armor made of comfort.

Powers

  • Super Speed — Primary ability, exceptional velocity
  • Flight — Via her white wings
  • Twin Black Swords — Will against fate; they cut meaning where ordinary blades fail, and can drink a fracture's energy into themselves
  • Regeneration — Enhanced healing
  • Dark Horse Alpha — Ultimate form (develops over series)

A fast, fierce friendship. Two who understand what being "different" costs.

Lucifer Morningstar
Fallen Creator • Father Figure • Mentor

Lucifer Morningstar

"Every fall is a form of flight."

Physical Description

Height6'3"
BuildMuscular, jacked
EyesGleaming red

Strikingly handsome with long black hair and a rugged five o'clock shadow. Intricate tattoos cover his body. He wears a long, uniquely designed red trench coat over black and red clothing—a bounty hunter aesthetic. A massive buster sword rests across his back.

Background

Former right-hand man to God, Lucifer worked alongside Abraham creating universes in the Labyrinth. Then he fell in love with a mortal woman and showed her the multiverse—introducing free will to existence.

God's response was absolute: He erased her soul from eternity. Lucifer couldn't fight back against his creator. He was banished to Hell not for treason, but out of grief.

He found and adopted Adeline, choosing Earth and his daughter over ruling Hell. The grief of what he lost never left him—and everything he has left, he would burn the universe to protect.

He would destroy the universe for Adeline.

Personality

Very chill, laid-back, cool—the typical relaxed dad type who happens to be the most feared being in creation. Extremely powerful but nonchalant about it. Stays cool under pressure. Witty, protective, weary with the weight of eons.

He trains Adeline as a soldier because he knows what's coming. Every gesture is deliberate. Power is constantly restrained. Ancient weariness shows in micro-expressions. His wings serve as an emotional barometer. Guilt manifests as physical tension.

Voice

Measured, precise word choice. Uses questions as teaching tools. Formal but warm with Adeline. Thinks in metaphors—"cycles," "ripples." Sounds weary and amused at once.

His interior rarely surfaces in words—it leaks through the small things. A hand going still. Holding on a beat longer than usual. A quiet "For now." He calls Adeline "little flame" and "little star." When it matters most, he says the same two words like a vow: "Always." "Family."

Catalina Star
Pop Star • Savior Rook

Background

Created by a government experiment using DNA from an asteroid—interdimensional superior human DNA. Designed to be genetically "perfect" and given free will as part of the experiment. Her powers were an unintended consequence.

When her abilities manifested, Warren advocated for her freedom. Her origin is classified—only Warren knows the truth.

Her pop star career is genuine passion. Music is how she proves her humanity, her individuality. Clone anxiety haunts her—she tries not to think about her artificial origin. Existential questions linger beneath the surface.

Personality

Determined and capable—gets things done. Highly intelligent. Confident as a performer. Direct in speech, no hedging. Offers practical solutions immediately. Uses grounding statements in crisis: "Look at me." "Breathe."

  • Flight — Via energy/sonic force (NOT wings)
  • Gravity Manipulation — Bends the weight of the world around her
  • Environmental Control — Reshapes the space she stands in

On the Team

Two misunderstood girls who recognize something of themselves in each other. Catalina is drawn to Adeline's authenticity; Adeline is grounded by Catalina's directness. She gave Adeline the nickname "snowbird"—born the first time she really saw her ("Your hair. Looks like snow falling.")—and calls her "Addie" when it's just the two of them.
